Hi, i am Abhishek, a wholesale supplier and trader in the timber market. My family has been in this business since 1977 thus gaining a lot of expertise in the wholesale wood market field. Today i'm going to share my personal experience about this market that I've gained over these couple of years.

Firstly, Nangloi timber market is the biggest wholesale timber market in the nation, also known as Assam timber market. It is situated in a quite large area which starts from the Mundka metro station which is present on the green line of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.

As you lay your first step in the market, you know you,ve come in one of the nation's biggest wholesale timber market. The Delhi lakkad market is full of big trucks being loaded and unloaded. The market is full of godowns/warehouses stocked up with the latest varieties of timber/sawn lumber imported from various parts of the globe mainly South Latin America, Malaysia, New Zealand and Africa. More than 500 top timber suppliers in India have occupied this market, some being traders, retailers and small band saw owners.

There is a lot of variety available in the Nangloi Timber Market, ranging from Pine wood, Malaysian Sal wood, Yellow and Red Meranti wood, Teak round logs, Sagwan chokhat and many more. However the current trend which has took over the market is the Pine wood. Pine wood has many of it's variations such as K.D. Pine, New Zealand Pine, SPF, SYP, S4S etc. all depending upon the country it is imported from. The current market price of Pine wood ranges between Rs. 500 - Rs. 600 per Cubic foot. Cubic foot is the relative measuring term used in timber markets. However, retailers prefer to sell on a per piece basis.
